The short version
- We target WCAG 2.2 Level AA on thorli.com and on every dental practice website we build.
- We do not use accessibility overlay widgets. They do not work and they increase your legal exposure. (See Section 7.)
- If something is broken for you, email accessibility@thorli.com and we will fix it or find another way to give you the information.
1. Our commitment
Thorli is committed to making thorli.com and the dental practice websites we build usable by everyone, including people with visual, motor, auditory, cognitive, or speech disabilities. We design and build to Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 Level AA, published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C).
Accessibility is not a one-time project. It is an ongoing practice. We test on every release.
2. Conformance status
thorli.com is designed to conform to WCAG 2.2 Level AA. "Conforms" means we have met the success criteria. Where we have not fully conformed on a specific item, we note it below in Section 5 ("Known issues") and commit to a remediation date.
3. What we have built
thorli.com includes:
- Semantic HTML structure with proper heading hierarchy.
- Color contrast ratios of at least 4.5:1 for body text and 3:1 for large text and graphical elements.
- Visible keyboard focus indicators on all interactive elements.
- Skip-to-content links on every page.
- Alt text on all meaningful images. Decorative images are marked with empty alt attributes.
- Labels and accessible names on every form field. Errors are announced to assistive technology.
- Captions on all videos. Transcripts available on request.
- Responsive design that reflows cleanly to 320px wide without horizontal scrolling.
- Support for browser zoom up to 200% without loss of content or function.
- Reduced-motion support: animations respect the
prefers-reduced-motionmedia query.
4. How we test
- Automated: axe-core (Deque) runs on every commit through our CI pipeline. Builds fail if new violations appear.
- Manual keyboard testing: every page is operable with the Tab, Shift+Tab, Enter, Space, and Escape keys.
- Screen reader testing: we test with NVDA on Windows, VoiceOver on macOS, and VoiceOver on iOS each release cycle.
- Manual contrast checks on any new color combination before it ships.
- Quarterly third-party review by an independent accessibility consultant.
5. Known issues
We will not pretend we are perfect. Here is what we are tracking on thorli.com as of the date at the top of this page:
- Embedded third-party video player on a small number of older blog posts uses default controls that do not fully expose state to screen readers. Remediation: replacing with a fully accessible player by July 1, 2026.
- Animated SVG illustrations on the homepage have decorative animation that ignores
prefers-reduced-motionin two cases. Fix is queued for the next release.
This list is updated as items are fixed and as new issues are found.
6. Legal framework: ADA Title III
Thorli recognizes that under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Title III, businesses that are places of public accommodation are required to provide effective communication to people with disabilities, and that U.S. federal courts (including the Eleventh, Ninth, and First Circuits) and the U.S. Department of Justice have treated WCAG 2.0/2.1/2.2 Level AA as the practical standard for web accessibility under the ADA. While Thorli is a B2B services agency, we treat ADA-WCAG conformance as our baseline both on this site and on every site we build for dental practice clients.
State analogues (including California's Unruh Act, New York's Human Rights Law, and others) apply parallel standards. Our approach is designed to satisfy them all.
7. Why we do not use accessibility overlays
You have probably seen accessibility "AI" widget overlays advertised to small businesses. We do not install them, and we counsel our dental practice clients against them. Here is why:
- They do not fix the underlying code. They paint over a broken page rather than rebuilding it.
- Plaintiff lawyers know this. A high share of ADA web accessibility lawsuits filed in recent years have been filed against sites that had an overlay installed.
- Screen reader users report worse experiences on sites with overlays, not better ones.
- The overlay vendor's "compliance certificate" is not a legal defense. Courts have rejected it.
The accessibility community (including dozens of disability advocacy organizations) has been clear on this. We listen.
8. Accommodations and accessible alternatives
If you need information from thorli.com in an alternative format (large print, plain text, audio, a screen-reader-friendly PDF, or a verbal walkthrough by phone), email accessibility@thorli.com. We will provide the alternative within 5 business days at no cost.
9. Accessibility for our dental practice clients
Every Thorli engagement includes WCAG 2.2 Level AA conformance as a baseline deliverable. We do not charge extra for accessibility. It is part of building a website. If you are a Thorli client and a patient reports an accessibility issue on your site, forward it to us and we will work with you to remediate it on the timeline required by the situation.
10. How to report an issue
If you encounter content on thorli.com or any Thorli-built site that is not accessible to you, please tell us. Include:
- The page URL.
- A description of the issue.
- The assistive technology and browser you are using, if you know.
Email: accessibility@thorli.com
We aim to acknowledge accessibility reports within 2 business days and to provide a remediation plan within 10 business days. Critical blockers are addressed faster.
11. Date of last review
This statement was reviewed and updated on May 13, 2026. The next scheduled review is August 13, 2026, or sooner if material changes are made to thorli.com.
